South Korea's hyundai motor shipyard (HMD) will deliver the world's first non-ballast tank for LNG fuel injection by the end of this year.

It is reported that the 7,600m3 LNG refueling ship is made by German owner Bernhard Schulte in 2016. It is currently being built at the shipyard in weishan and is expected to be delivered later in 2018. After delivery, the ship will be deployed in the port of klaipeda, Lithuania, to supply LNG to ship customers and small LNG terminals on the Baltic coast.

Since the ship does not need the ballast water treatment plant required by the imo and the U.S. coast guard rules, the use of a no-load designed LNG refuelling vessel will reduce the cost of equipment investment. At the same time, it can also avoid the need to meet the coating performance standards and related rules of ballast tanks, so it will help to save maintenance costs.

In order to meet the requirements of the no-ballast design, the special a deep dead-rise model is developed in modern tailer, so it will help it sink deeper into the water without ballast and maintain speed.
